Assessment Centre

After your telephone interview, we’ll inform you within a week if you’ve successfully made it to the second stage of the recruitment process.

When we contact you, we’ll give you details of your assessment centre, which will be tailored to the business area you want to join and will be held at one of our offices. The assessment centre will involve meeting the business team and senior managers, plus a combination of the following:

  • Competency-based interviews
  • Individual presentations
  • Group exercises
  • Case studies
  • Stock picking exercises

For some business areas there may be a third round of interviews or a more in-depth assessed exercise.

Most of our assessment centres last a full day and we’ll make sure we allow plenty of time for you to meet some of our current graduates and people you may work with to get a real insight into what it’s like to work for us.

Read the Assessment Centre Hints & Tips

Some of these tips apply to all the interviews you’ll have throughout the recruitment process.

  • Print off a copy of your application form and refresh your memory on your answers. You’ll be asked questions on this either during the formal interview/s or informally during the presentations and breaks.
  • We’ll ask you questions about Fidelity and our business, so do your research.
  • Read the financial press and be prepared to talk about topical news stories.
  • Most of the interviews will be competency based so prepare some examples you can provide to a variety of questions. However don't over prepare or your answers could sound too rehearsed.
  • Make sure you know the dress code. Fidelity has a business dress code and we would expect those coming for an assessment centre to follow this.
  • Allow ample time to travel to your assessment centre and plan your route in advance.
  • Listen to the questions asked and prepare some questions of your own.
  • Most importantly, be yourself.

Offers

If we offer you a place on one of our programmes, we’ll talk you through all details of the programme and package before sending you a formal contract. You then have two weeks from receiving the contract to accept. You’ll also be assigned a buddy from when you receive the offer. This will be a current graduate who will be there to help you decide on your offer, answer any questions and to support you until you start at Fidelity.
