Business Operations

Our Business Operations teams have a direct impact on the performance of our business for our clients. As the world's leading investment specialist we maintain that position by constantly looking to improve what we do and the way we do it.

As we grow, develop more complex products, expand into new markets and locations and foster new relationships, Business Operations is the area that enables our business to work effectively and efficiently on behalf of our clients. Naturally, first class customer service plays a key role in making this happen, so our Business Operations teams work hard to keep us ahead of our competitors with exceptional account management and infrastructure.

Careers leaving nothing to chance

The Business Operations programme is aimed at creating leaders or managers of the future - people who can drive our business forward. Your rotations will give you an opportunity to experience a multitude of different areas, across departments and where possible internationally. Whether you want to be a customer adviser, a business analyst, a project manager or ultimately a people manager, you’ll have all the support you need.

This programme will give you the skills and expertise to enable us to give our clients the highest levels of support across Europe. You’ll enjoy a series of rotations that will give you a broad view of how our business fits together and how you can contribute to excellent client service and business delivery. In Business Operations, you could be involved at any stage of the client process, from establishing a new account and ensuring that all legal paperwork is finalised effectively, to providing swift, professional responses when a client has a query. And your involvement could include establishing the processes, or working with Technology to design the systems that make this happen.

Your rotations could involve establishing the processes that make each client’s experience smooth and problem-free, or working on a core change project to drive improvements of how we offer this service. Each rotation will help you to develop your skills while giving you a solid grounding in the way we do business and an understanding of what it takes to support a leading fund management organisation. In short, you’ll play a vital role in retaining our competitive edge.

You’ll complete a number of rotations over a two and a half year period. Your first rotation is usually in our UK Customer Service Centre, as this is the best way of helping you understand our clients’ needs and the full range of our product offering. There is a detailed initial training period, to give you information on our products and systems, as well as the industry regulations and deadlines we face.

One of your rotations will be in our Institutional Operational area, where you’ll be dealing with corporate pension plans. You’ll also experience Business Operations Processing, which will help you understand elements of how we handle and deal with vast quantities of client correspondence. A rotation in either our Risk or Compliance teams will help you understand how a global business functions within the complexity of different regulatory environments and ensures controls are in place to minimise business risks.

In the Process Improvement or Change Area, you’ll have the chance to suggest better ways of working which could result in cost savings, improvement of service and more streamlined ways of operating. This will also give you an opportunity to experience and use elements of project management.

Your rotations could be within our UK offices or as far afield as India. Or depending on your language ability you could work in one of our European operations centres.
