So it’s vital to use our investment intelligence to carry out detailed research that enables us to make the right investment decisions – whether we’re reviewing equities, bonds, funds or property companies.
We recruit the most talented investment professionals to maintain an unrivalled research operation. Join us as an Associate and you’ll use your intellectual curiosity, your eye for detail and your commercial acumen to research companies as thoroughly as possible so you can advise our Portfolio Managers on their investment decisions.
With our reputation behind you, you’ll gain board-level access to a variety of organisations, with the scope to question them on all aspects of their business. Only a select few who have the highest level of analytical thinking, independent ideas and responsibility are chosen, because our clients deserve the best.
Your programme will involve a comprehensive series of sector rotations, enabling you to gain the skills and experience necessary to develop into a portfolio manager or research specialist.
You’ll be mentored by a senior investment professional so you’ll really learn from the best. You’ll also be sponsored and fully supported to achieve a recognised professional qualification. In your first six months you’ll undertake the first level of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.
We offer a range of excellent career opportunities in our Investment division. Our selection process is designed to guide you towards the area most suited to your academic background, work experience, key skills sets, and, of course, your own aspirations.

As an Equity Research Associate, you’ll help us to choose the best stocks and provide truly independent data that our Portfolio Managers can rely on.
Within your first six months you will be given your own stocks within a specific sector to research, so you’ll certainly enjoy early responsibility. You will become the Fidelity expert in your sector, so you’ll need to know your companies inside out through first hand contact with the company management, and talking to industry experts, consumers and suppliers. This extensive research will provide all the information you need to make investment recommendations to the Portfolio Manager.
Europe has the largest Equity Research team with over 60 investment research professionals* located in London, Paris, Milan and Frankfurt.
Fixed Income Research is becoming increasingly complex and challenging, involving a combination of fundamental credit research and quantitative analysis.
We have close to $32.5 billion of fixed income assets under management spread across 25 funds1. Joining as a graduate you will rotate across three core areas – Credit Research, Quantitative Analysis and Trading. As a Credit Associate, you’ll research companies to develop a deep understanding of their business, their potential for growth and, above all, their creditworthiness. You’ll need to delve deep and talk to people at all levels to assess their strengths and then make investment recommendations to the Portfolio Manager. As a Quantitative Associate you’ll develop mathematical models to analyse bond markets and highlight potential investments. To succeed here, you’ll need a very strong mathematical mindset.
Our associates are bright, talented and ambitious, combining entrepreneurial flair with a passion for investing.
You’ll need the self reliance and independence to make your own decisions and a commitment to building long-term growth for our clients. If you have a natural curiosity and are full of fresh ideas based on sound commercial arguments, you’ll soon be making a genuine contribution to our business.
We look for ambitious graduates with a strong academic record, including a 2:1 honours degree or above/equivalent. Along with an enquiring mind, you're likely to have an avid interest in the stock market and an awareness of what makes a good or bad investment opportunity. Most of all, it’s your passion for investing that will enable you to build a long, satisfying and successful career here.
