We maintain our position as the world's leading investment specialist by constantly looking to improve what we do and the technology we use to do it. As we expand our capabilities, move into new markets and locations, and foster new relationships, our Investment Management Operations team supports the people in our front office, and enables our business to work effectively and efficiently.
As the market develops we’re continuing to expand our product offering to include more complex asset classes, including derivatives. This provides a number of exciting new challenges for our Investment Management Operations team to ensure people in the front office have the support they need to make the most of these new products for our clients.
Fidelity’s fund managers, traders and analysts manage clients’ funds on a day to day basis. Working closely with these investment professionals, the Investment Management Operations team has a direct impact on the service we provide to clients. This team is involved in implementing fund strategies, driving infrastructure change, analysing and reporting on risk and performance of funds, directly supporting the trading desks, designing technology solutions and supporting all aspects of the research process.
You will complete two rotations over two years, which will give you an insight into all elements of our investment business. Each rotation is designed to challenge you and provide you with a core understanding of how that team fits into the overall investment process. So you could be involved in day-to-day support, managing change-related projects such as launching a new fund, implementing a new trading system or finding innovative but simple solutions to a variety of processes.
Depending on your skill set, you might start in our Portfolio Management Services group, working to help the portfolio managers trade our funds. Or you could work in Fund Performance Attribution which looks at the performance of each specific asset class that makes up a fund, analysing how much each of these have contributed to the value of the fund . Our different asset classes include equities, fixed income, alternative strategies, property or multimanager..
Alternatively, you might find yourself in the project management team, implementing the next generation of products for investment management. Or perhaps you could work in the systems group, supporting the technology needs of our investment professionals.
As part of the programme, we’ll sponsor and support you to gain relevant industry qualifications, such as the Introduction to Investment Qualification, the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) or the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). You’ll also benefit from a variety of internal training courses, where you’ll learn from our own, and external industry experts.
Ultimately the aim of the programme is to create leaders and managers of the future therefore the variety of experience and opportunities provided to develop your skills will give you a full view of what it takes to support a leading investment management organisation.
